The out-of-band IP address cannot be
pinged.
There may be a problem
with either the connection,
the IP address
configuration, or the
Bootflag.
1. Check the physical connection.
2. Make sure the cable is good.
3. Make sure the workstation has network
connectivity to the subnet the switch out-of-
band port is configured on.
4. Check to make sure you can ping another
device on the same subnet as the switch out-
of-band port.
5. Make sure the IP addresses are set correctly
on the GFS-2.
a. Make sure all IP addresses are on different
subnets.
b. Make sure the Gateway address is
correctly defined.
c. Make sure the Out-of-Band IP address is
configured correctly for the subnet in use.
6. Make sure the Bootflag is set to 0XC0 if
using a statically defined address and not
DHCP.
When using telnet to access the CLI
the switch sends an error saying:
Error: This user is already logged in
.
Someone is logged into
that switch using a serial
cable or another telnet
session.
1. Logout by typing exit.
2. Add another user
A user cannot log into a switch using
telnet, and no one is accessing the
switch through another telnet session
or a console session.
If a user is using telnet
from a WinNT workstation
to access the CLI on a
switch and the connection
between the workstation
and the switch temporarily
fails (the connection is
going down repeatedly)
and the user closes the
telnet session while the
TCP/IP connection is
down, the user could be
locked out forever.
-or-
The TCP/IP connection
fails permanently while
accessing the CLI using
telnet.
Using Win2k or Unix the
resources will only be
locked out for 16 hours.
This is a known bug of the Windows NT OS.
WinNT does not release the TCP/IP socket
when the Telnet application is closed and the
switch still believes the user is connected.
1. Reboot the switch.
2. Use SANman to add a new user.
3. If using Win2k or Unix, wait for the user
resources to become free in 16 hours.
The user needs to access commonly
used commands or directory paths
within the CLI.
The set command should
be used to create short-
cuts.
Help can be accessed from a CLI prompt by
typing
set ?
