Chapter 4. Solving problems
This section provides basic troubleshooting information and solutions for solving problems with your
adapter.
Troubleshooting checklist
If you encounter difficulties when installing or using your adapter, check these items first:
• With your computer powered off, check the connections to each disk drive, power supply, enclosure, and
so on.
• Disconnect and reconnect disk drives from the adapter.
• Check that your adapter is installed in a compatible PCIe expansion slot. To verify the bus compatibility of
your adapter, see “About ThinkSystem RAID 9350 Series adapter” on page 10.
• Ensure that your adapter is firmly seated and secured in the PCIe expansion slot.
• If your adapter is not detected during system boot, try installing it in a different compatible expansion slot.
(See “Installing the host bus adapter” on page 18 for instructions.)
• Ensure that the adapter is flashed with the correct firmware and the last firmware update is completed
successfully.
• Did device driver install correctly? It may need to be reloaded after a reboot or kernel update; see
“Installing device driver” on page 21.
• If you have external disk drives (or other devices), are they powered on?
