The following illustration shows the locations of the hot-swap hard disk drive backplanes 1 . You need to
open the server cover and remove the front system fans to access the backplanes. See “Removing the
server cover” on page 67 and “Replacing the front system fan 1” on page 130.

• The following illustration is based on server models that have five to eight 3.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS
