Memory

Your server has four memory slots. For more information, see “Memory module installation rules” on page 74.

Power supply

Your server comes with one of the following power supply configurations:

• One screw-secured, non-hot-swap 450-watt power supply assembly

• One or two hot-swap 450-watt redundant power supplies

Fans

Your server comes with the following fans to provide proper system cooling and airflow:

• One heat sink and fan assembly

• Two front system fans

• One rear system fan

Internal drives

Internal drives are devices that your server uses to read and store data. The internal drives supported
by your server vary by model.

• Hard disk drive

– Five to eight 3.5-inch hot-swap Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) or Serial Attached

SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives (SCSI is the acronym for Small Computer System Interface)

– Up to eight 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS hard disk drives or SATA solid-state drives

– Up to four 3.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS hard disk drives

– Up to four 3.5-inch non-hot-swap SATA hard disk drives

Notes:

– The term “2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk drives” or “2.5-inch hard disk drives” hereinafter refers to all the

supported types of 2.5-inch hard disk drives, including the solid-state drives.

– For server models with more than four SATA hard disk drives or server models that use SAS hard disk

drives, there must be a RAID card installed. See “RAID card” on page 29.

• Optical drive

– Up to two 5.25-inch SATA optical drives

– The server has two optical drive bays. The lower optical drive bay is installed with a 5.25-inch SATA

optical drive.

Note:

If the server has only one optical drive installed, ensure that the optical drive is installed in the

lower bay (optical drive bay 1). The upper bay is for a secondary optical drive only.
