7.2.4 Safety/Dirty Earth
A safety earth connection is provided for every cabinet. Conducting parts such as doors,
swing frames, removable panels, equipment mounting plates, and gland plates etc., which
are not permanently connected to the safety earth, are connected to the cabinet frame with
flexible braided earth strips of 4 mm2 minimum.
Safety earths are connected to a dedicated earth bolt of M8 minimum size, provided with
an earth symbol marker.
7.2.5 Main Electrical Earth
Each field cabinet has a copper earth bar for circuit protection conductors (CPC's) and
sufficient terminals are available for making the connections. The main earth bar is
insulated from the cabinet frame and is used as a "star point" for the panel. Earth
connections are as short as possible and of adequate cross sectional area.
7.2.6 Cabling
All cable entries via plugs and sockets mounted in the bottom gland plates.
Cable clamps and supports are provided for all incoming cables.
7.2.7 Terminations
All terminals are of the Klippon type SAK or equivalent. These terminals are constructed
from polyamide material and shall be suitable for the terminations of wire of up to
2.5mm2 cross-sectional area. All sockets, terminal and wiring are clearly identified in
strict accordance with the system documentation.
