LIGHTING THE GAS GRATE MANUALLY

 

 

In the event of the Piezo ignitor not working properly, ignite the appliance with 
a lighter or matches. In such cases, follow the Specific instructions below to 
light the appliance manually. 

 

Check that the gas supply to the Gas Grate is opened/turned-on. 

 

Hold a lit match or barbecue lighter to the right hand side of the gas grate, next 
to the Pilot Light and whilst holding the match or lighter in that position, push 
the Control Knob in and turn 

anti-clockwise

 to the ignite. See figure 2. 

 

Once the Pilot burner is lit, continue to hold the control knob in the pushed-in 
position  for  15-20  seconds,  before  turning  the  Control  Knob  in  and 

anti-

clockwise 

direction to the required heat setting as described in Section 5.

LIGHTING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

 

 

Before lighting the appliance for the first time, ensure that there are no gas 
leaks and that a pressure test was done. 

 

The  installer  is  required  to  ignite  the  appliance  in  the  presence  of  the 
owner/user.  The  installer  is  obliged  to  instruct  the  owner/user  in  the  safe 
operation of the appliance and completed installation.  

 

The position and operation of the isolating valve must be explained. 

 

Installers are required to provide the owner/user with a completion certificate, 
which  must  be  signed  and  dated  by  both  partied.  Ensure  that  your 
Name/Company name and SAQCC number appear on the certificate.

TURNING OFF THE APPLIANCE

 

 

Turn  the  control  knob  CLOCKWISE  (direction  9  o’clock).  Do  not  press  knob 
inward in order to turn. The knob will stop as it hits the stopper. 

 

At that point, press and hold down the knob and continue turning the knob 
CLOCKWISE to OFF position (12 o’clock), then release the knob.
