14. CONNECTION TO EXTERNAL AIR
INTAKE
The external air intake must have a minimum Ø of 100 mm.
The UNI 10683 standard or other local and national regulations of the
country of installation must in any case be respected for the size and
presence of an external air intake.
In the presence of type B gas appliances with intermittent operation
not intended for heating, an aeration and / or ventilation opening must
be dedicated to them.
The vents must meet the following requirements:
• be protected by grids, metal meshes, etc., without reducing,
however, the net useful section;
• be made in such a way as to make maintenance operations
possible;
• positioned in such a way that they cannot be obstructed;
The flow of clean and uncontaminated air can also be obtained from a
room adjacent to the installation room (aeration and indirect
ventilation) as long as this flow can occur freely through permanent
openings communicating with the outside. The adjacent room cannot
be used as a garage, storage of combustible material or in any case
for activities with fire danger, bathroom, bedroom or common room of
the property.
The appliance can be connected directly to the external air intake
(see technical data sheet for fitting size) for a maximum length of
1 meter. For longer lengths, adjust the pipe diameter according
to the regulations.
If you experience ignition problems or live in humid
areas, we advise you not to connect the appliance directly to
the external air intake: the humidity coming from the outside
hinders the ignition of the pellets and could give problems to
the glow plug.
WARNING: Mechanical extraction and suction fans
(VMC, extractor hoods, etc.), when used in the same room
or space as the appliance, can cause combustion
problems: in this case it is mandatory to connect the
external air intake directly to the device.
15. COMBUSTION FUMES EXHAUST
The entire smoke exhaust system must comply
with the provisions of the UNI 10683 standard currently
in force in Italy. For all other countries, national and
European regulations must be respected.
IMPORTANT: the type of flue gas exhaust and its
dimensioning (diameter and height) must be evaluated,
built and certified by the qualified installer on the basis of
precise calculations in relation to the appliance data and
the technical sheets of the flue supplier, in the
compliance with the regulations in force and the
indications of this instruction booklet. It is imperative to
ensure a natural draft (even when cold) so that in the
event of a temporary power failure, the evacuation of
fumes is ensured. Check the data sheet of each appliance
to respect the minimum necessary draft in Pascal at the
rated power and at the reduced power.
The heat generator works in depression and is equipped with an
outlet fan for the extraction of fumes.
The exhaust system must be unique for the generator, no
discharges into the flue shared with other devices are allowed.
Each appliance must have its own flue with a section equal to or
greater than the diameter of the flue gas exhaust pipe of the
chimney insert.
The flue gas discharge can be realized through a connection to a
traditional flue (chimney) or to an internal or external duct with
insulated or double-walled pipe.
It is necessary to use certified pipes and fittings with adequate
gaskets that guarantee tightness.
The smoke duct and the relative smoke fitting must be equipped
with a regular sign indicating the characteristics as indicated in
the Italian standard UNI 10683.
Clean the smoke duct and its smoke connection at least once a
year.
Below are listed definitions and requirements for the correct
installation of a smoke outlet according to the Italian standard
UNI10683.
CHANNEL or SMOKE FITTING
Definition:
duct or connecting element between the appliance and
the chimney for the evacuation of combustion products.
Technical requirements:
Must not cross rooms where the installation of combustion
appliances is prohibited.
It must be hermetically connected to the heat generator but its
weight must not rest on it.
The use of counter-slope elements is prohibited.
The length of the horizontal section must be minimum and in any
case not greater than 3 m, with a minimum slope of 3% upwards.
The number of direction changes, included the T-piece must not
be greater than 4.
The smoke duct must have a constant section and allow the
recovery of soot.
It is necessary to provide a "T" fitting with a condensate
collection cap at the base of the vertical section.
If the exhaust does not fit into an existing flue, a vertical section
with a windproof terminal (UNI 10683) is required.
The vertical duct can be internal or external to the building.
If the smoke duct is outside the building, and / or in unheated
attics or attics, it must be strictly insulated.
