MPORTANT
:
Never let the engine run and the hydraulic pump engaged during cleaning and inspection. Always
apply the Lockout/Tagout procedure when doing these tasks (see
Locking Out and Tagging Out the
Hopper cleaning procedure:
1.
Park the vehicle on safe, level ground and apply the parking brake.
2.
Fully extend the arm.
3.
Remove the tailgate safety pins.
4.
Fully open the tailgate and extend the packer completely.
Use the Auto-Eject switch to perform this (see Figure 3-40).
5.
Install the tailgate safety prop.
6.
Lower the crusher panel (if installed) and clean all accumulated dirt. Then, raise the crusher
panel completely.
During the cleaning process, be careful with limit switches to prevent misalignment.

OTE
:
If your truck is equipped with a two-hand safety system and you want to operate the crusher
panel via the external controls, you will need to press the deadman switch first and hold it in
order to activate those controls (see
Body External Deadman Switch (optional)
7.
Clean all accumulated dirt under the cylinder brackets (see Figure 4-12) and inside the side
tracks using the provided hoe. Use pressurized water if necessary.
Be careful with limit switches to prevent misalignment.

Danger!
Always use the tailgate safety prop while working under a raised tailgate. The safety prop
should be used even if the tailgate is in fully raised position.
