Figure 3-23 Tailgate Down switch
The Tailgate Down switch and the Body Unloading Process
The Tailgate Down switch must be used by the operator to lower the tailgate once all the packed
refuse has been ejected out of the body at landfill. But before using this switch, the operator must first
retract the packer completely to its home position by pressing the yellow push-button on the packer
control station (see Figure 3-44).
I
MPORTANT
:
When the tailgate is completely closed, put the tailgate-locking pins back to their place.
When the tailgate is unlocked, both Tailgate Up and Tailgate Down switches flash red and a buzzer
sounds.
Hydraulic Alarm Switch (optional)
When this switch is engaged (green-lighted), the system continually monitors hydraulic oil
temperature and level. If the oil temperature gets too high or the level of hydraulic oil gets too low, the
hydraulic alarm switch will turn red, meaning that a correction must be applied quickly.
Danger!
Always use the safety prop while performing maintenance under a raised tailgate. Failure
to do so may result in severe injury or even death.
