High Limit Switches
This heater is equipped with two limit switches. One is
manual reset; the other is an auto-reset. The switches
are located on the side of the heater as shown.
Both high limit switches should be tested a minimum
of once per year when the heater is given a thorough
cleaning.
1. Remove the high limit switch.
2. Apply a small
fl
ame only to the sensing portion on
the back of the switch.
Be careful not to melt the plastic housing of the switch
when conducting this test.
WARNING
Fire Hazard

Do not operate the heater with either of the
high limit switches bypassed.
■
Operating the heater with a bypassed high
limit switch may lead to overheating, possibly
resulting in a
fi
re, with subsequent damage to
the heater or property damage.
3. Within a minute, you should hear a soft click,
indicating the contacts of the switch have opened.
4. MANUAL RESET SWITCH: Allow the switch to cool
for about a minute before
fi
rmly pressing its reset
button.
AUTO RESET SWITCH: Allow the switch to cool
for about a minute. No need to reset.
5. Check for electrical continuity across the switch
terminals to make sure the contacts have closed.
Gas Pressure Checks
ATTENTION:

The following explains a typical procedure to be
followed in checking gas pressures.
■
The gas pressures will vary depending upon fuel
type.
■
Consult the data plate on the heater or page 5 in
this manual for speci
fi
c pressures to be used in
conjunction with this procedure.
■
Gas pressure measured at the inlet to the regulator
is Inlet Pressure and gas pressure measured at the
neck of the combustion head is Burner Manifold
Pressure.

2 Gas pressure gauges capable of reading
up to 35 in. w.c./8.7 kPa. (may be ordered
from L.B. White, part # 00764)

#4 standard screwdriver
WARNING

Do not disassemble the regulator, or the
solenoid valve.
■
Do not attempt to replace any internal compo-
nents of the regulator or solenoid.
■
These components must be replaced if any
physical damage occurs to the gas terrain
assembly.
■
Failure to follow this warning will result in
fi
re
or explosions, leading to injury or death to
humans, and property damage.
