8.4 FTP Printing
FTP printing allows users several ways to print files through the internet directly from
their favorite IP browser or other FTP client.
Important:The user must be aware of the type of file they are sending to the printer.
8.4.1 FTP Printing Using Netscape
Connect to the port you wish to send the print job to on your print server. For example,
to print to the EcoLAN 2000E from Netscape (must be Netscape 2.0 or greater), do
the following:
1.
Type: ftp://port1@<destination server IP address>
2.
Select File.
3.
Select Upload File.
Note:
FTP printing does not support selecting multiple file names.
The selected file is now sent to the printer.
8.4.2 ASCII to PostScript (A2PS) Method
Connect to the port you wish to send the text-based files to a PostScript printer on your
print server. For example, to print to A2PS1(ascii to postscript) your EcoLAN 2000E
from Netscape (must be Netscape 2.0 or greater), do the following:
1.
Type: ftp://a2ps1@<destination server IP address>
2.
Select File.
3.
Select Upload File.
The selected file is now sent to the printer.
