9.8 Notes for ex-magnetic float level transmitter
• According to RL 2014/34/EU, annex I, the magnetic float level transmitter is a device of device
group II, category 1G or 2G, which, according to RL 99/92/EC ( ATEX 137 ), may be used in zones 0,
1 and 2 or 1 and 2 as well as device groups IIA, IIB and IIC, which are explosive due to inflammable
substances in the range of temperature classes T1 to T6 or the values listed in the note figures below.
When using, the requirements defined in EN 60079-14 are to be adhered to.
• According to RL 2014/34/EU, annex I, the magnetic float level transmitter is a device of device
group II, category 2D, which, according to RL 99/92/EC ( ATEX 137 ), may be used in zones 21 and 22 for
flammable coating powder.
When using, the requirements according to EN 60079-1 and EN 60079-14 are to be adhered to.
The magnetic float level transmitter and the components must correspond to protection category IP6*.
Additions, completion and repair tasks to the measurement system ( such as replacing a transducer, the
connection box ) may only be carried out by trained specialists ( according to ATEX 137 ). The operator
is responsible for ensuring that the measurement system corresponds to the original design. The type
designation may not be changed.
• The correlation between the temperature class or the surface temperature and the highest permitted
ambient temperature is listed in the following table, including installation with temperature switches.
Type of protection “INTRINSIC SAFETY”
• The effective inner inductances and capacities are negligibly small.
• Only to be connected to one or several certified, intrinsically safe current circle(s).
• When installing one or several transducer(s), the electrical parameters for the relevant special
certificate(s) are to be adhered to.
Type of protection “FLAMEPROOF ENCLOSURE”
• Only to be connected to a current circle with safe limitation of the electrical parameters to the values
specified above.
• If the device is delivered without a cable fitting, only a cable fitting that conforms to standard EN 60079-1
( Equipment protection by pressure-resistant enclosures “Exd” ) may be installed.
