5.4.3 Auxiliary connections
DANGER
Risk of potentially explosive atmosphere by incompatible fluids mixing in the
auxiliary piping
Risk of burns!
Explosion hazard!
▷
Make sure that the barrier fluid or quench liquid are compatible with the fluid
handled.
WARNING
Failure to use or incorrect use of auxiliary connections (e.g. barrier fluid, flushing
liquid, etc.)
Risk of injuries by escaping fluid!
Risk of burns!
Malfunction of the pump!
▷
Refer to the general arrangement drawing, the piping layout and pump
markings (if any) for the number, dimensions and locations of auxiliary
connections.
▷
Use the auxiliary connections provided.
▷
The connections must only be used to absorb stresses caused by the circulation
of the fluid handled. Do not expose the connections to any external stresses.
In the case of clean fluids handled no cooling liquid is required for the mechanical
seal. The mechanical seal is cooled by the circulation of the fluid handled.
NOTE
On pumps with a priming system a check valve must be fitted in the discharge line
immediately downstream of the pump.
