VP-43
– for remote, long distance, RS-232 operation. The machine is a unique product
designed to overcome cable length limitations when transmitting RS-232 information. It is a
bi-directional device intended to operate in pairs, with one

connected to the control
system’s serial port, and another one located at the device being controlled. Connected in this
fashion, the cable between the two units can be extended to more than 100 times that of
conventional RS-232. A 12V power supply is provided. DIP switches allow the unit to be
configured for use with crossed or straight (uncrossed) cables. Also, the “extended” RS-232
cable can be connected using either a DB-9 connector, or a detachable screw terminal
connector. The

was designed specifically for use with Kramer switchers and routers,
but can easily be adapted for use with other products which use RS-232 in null-modem
configuration. The
