3.10 Heat Distribution Cover Plates
IMPORTANT: Do not remove cover plates for standard installation.
Remove only for specific applications or installations that require
removal of cover plates. For facing and finishing requirements for
the vented cavity options, see Section 4.4 Vented Cavity Facing and
3.10.1 Kozy Zone Kit and Vented
Cavity Cover Plates
The following design options have specific framing requirements,
mantel requirements, and exterior trim dimensions. The appliance
convection baffle and outer shell plates must be removed for heat
distribution required by cavity framing designs.
1. Remove the (6) cover plates that correspond to the vented cavity
options front,, or top vented cavity. See Figure 3.9. If planning
to install the Kozy Zone kit, these (6) cover plates will also have
to be removed. See the #KZK-072 manual for further fireplace
preparation.
3.10.2 Exterior and Interior Heat
Transfer Kit Cover Plates
Figure 3.10 shows removal of the Heat Transfer Kit cover plates. There
are (2) square cover plates located on the rear of the outer shell of the
appliance. This appliance can have (2) Heat Transfer Kits installed at
the same time. It can be up to two of the same heat transfer kit or a
combination of interior and exterior kits.
