Manual Cleaning

NOTE
Do not rub with hands or wipe with cloth the low-pass filter.
As the shutter filter is made from very thin filter, do not touch it or blow it with blower
strongly.
Dust or dirt on the low-pass filter of the imaging device
may result in shadow on the photographed images.
Although low-pass filter may be cleaned according
to the procedures below; it is fragile and can be
easily damaged.
Cleaning by Kowa or a Kowa-designated service
provider is recommended.
1. Turn OFF the power supply of Nikon D5300.
2. Disconnect the cable connected to Nikon D5300.
3. Remove the Nikon D5300 from the nonmyd 8.
4. Connect the AC adapter cable only to Nikon D5300.
5. Turn ON the power supply of Nikon D5300.
6. Press the menu button to display the menu screen.
7. Select "Mirror Lock-up" of setup menu and make
a selection with OK button.
8. When you press the OK button again, the status
becomes the ready status for cleaning mirror up.
9. As the message "When shutter button is …, turn
camera off." is displayed, press the shutter button.
10. The mirror comes up and shutter is opened.
11. Hold up the Nikon D5300 and turn the mount side
below. Blow the dirt or dust collected on low-pass
filter with blower from lower side as shown in the
right photo.
12. Turn OFF the power switch of Nikon D5300.
13. The mirror comes down and shutter filter is closed.
14. Attach the Nikon D5300 to the nonmyd 8 and
connect the cable.
15. Do a shoot and check there is no dust or dirt on the
photographed image. If there is remained dust or
dirt, blow the blower repeatedly.
