How to clean up the low-pass filter for Nikon D5300
―
Automatic Cleaning
―
The image sensor that acts as the camera’s picture element is
fitted with a low-pass filter to prevent moiré. If you suspect that
dirt or dust on the filter is appearing in photographs, you can
clean the filter using the [Clean image sensor] option in the
setup menu.
1. Turn ON the power switch of Nikon D5300.
※
Image sensor cleaning is most effective when the
camera is placed base down as shown at right.
(The assembled D5300 with fundus camera may be
cleaning in same way as above)
2. Press the menu button to display the menu screen.
3. Select "Clean image sensor" of setup menu and make a
selection with right key of multi selector.
4. When you press the right key of multi selector again, The
message shown at right will be displayed while cleaning is
in progress.
5. The message shown at right will be displayed when
cleaning is complete.
6. Do a shoot and check there is no dirt or dust.
If dust can not be fully removed using the options in the
[Clean image sensor] menu, clean the image sensor
manually.
