5.6 COF(Chip On Flexible)
5.6.1 COF (Chip On Flexible) refers to a product whose chip (wafer) is put on Flexible
5.6.2 Function of COF for the purpose of PDP
●
COF for PDP is attached to the bottom of panel to generate Addressing discharge.
● In Address section, Addressing Discharge plays a role to generate sustaining discharge to the next
Sustain Pulse by generating wall charge on a pixel, which will display image (generate discharge) before
sustaining discharge section. The electric potential of wall charge is represented by VA= 75 ~ 90V.
5.6.3 Base Configuration & driving description of COF
▶ Address electrode generates wall charge of panel to create X, Y electrode and discharge, and digital signals
carrying voltage, which generates electrode, are outputted to each electrode. The sources of being outputted
are sent to Logic Board and COF makes them the final data. Address is operated as follows; voltage of Va
(50V ~ 90Vdc) is applied, 6 bit signals including CLK Signal of Logic circuit are sent, and even and odd output
waveforms of a driver which outputs 96 bit signals per IC are driven. As 4 ICs are embedded per a set of COF
(96*4), 384 addresses can be outputted.
