Checking the offset values for every
measurement
If the offset parameter is not defined correctly for some measurements, you can get
confusing readings from the sensor.
Prerequisites
The TV80 has been set up with its hardware units connected as specified by the relevant
installation instructions.
Context
When measuring height, offset is normally used to compensate the value read by the
sensors placed on the trawl door. If you want to know the height from the door to the
seafloor, you must enter the offset value to compensate the distance between where the
sensor is placed on the door and the bottom of the door itself. The distance between the
door adapter and the bottom of the door is the relevant offset.
When measuring depth by the depth lid of a sensor, there will always be a deviation in
readings of a approxi/- 1 or 2 m.
Procedure
1
Connect the sensor to the computer using the programming cable.
2
On the processor unit desktop, double-click the TV80 icon to start the program.
3
Open the
Setup
menu.
4
Select
Offsets
to open the
Offsets
dialog box.
Observe the relevant values defined for every measurement.
5
If necessary, enter new values based on your knowledge of the physical location of
the sensor and the properties of your gear.
6
Select
OK
to close the dialog box.
7
Disconnect the sensor from the interface cable and the computer.
