Image Drum Unit Replacement
If the faxes received become unusually light or have vertical streaks in them while
there is sufficient toner remaining, or if the machine display shows “Change Drum
Soon,” the machine most likely requires a new image drum unit.
The service life of an image drum depends on a number of factors including tempera-
ture and humidity, the type of paper used, and the number of pages per job. One image
drum unit will print approximately 20,000 pages when printing continuously, up to
14,000 pages at 3 pages per task, and about 9,000 pages at 1 page per task. Contact the
nearest dealership to order a new unit.
Warning:
1) Always handle the image drum unit by the ends. Never expose the drum to light
for more than 5min. Do not touch the green surface of the drum.
2) The Konica FAX9840 machines will not operate if any image drum unit other
than that specified by Konica is installed. Be sure to read the image drum packag-
ing carefully before purchase and installation. Take care when handling the image
drum. See the section on Safety at the beginning of this handbook.
