2. If the ink delivery systems appears normal attempt to recover the cartridge by using
the menu function
VACUUM PRIME
in the service station menu
(Utility
Menu – Prime Menu – Service Station Menu – Vacuum Prime
)
.
3. Activate an
All Color Test
in the 6-pass print mode to fire all cartridges and check
overall cartridge performance and ink flow to cartridges.
CAUTION:
Do not activate the vacuum prime more than
3 times maximum
or damage
to cartridge may occur and/or ink wicking will occur onto flex driver cables. Using this
function in moderation has been proven successful in a few situations.
4. Check ink line pressure and verify no air gaps are visible in ink delivery tubing with ink
chain. Use the cartridge with tubing assembly (and plug bar) supplied with printer to
check line pressure.
5. As a preventive measure against future MAX INK TEMP errors (and even help
recover a cartridge which has already suffered a MAX INK TEMP error) try using the
suggested manual System Prime procedure below. Please read instructions thoroughly
first before attempting.
System Prime (Manual):
a). Select
UTILITY MENU - ACCESS CARTRIDGES
(carriage should move out).
b). Select
UTILITY MENU - PRIME MENU - SERVICE STATION MENU
.
Simultaneously depress
VACUUM PRIME
and
PUMP ON
at the same time and
release. (you should hear the auto clean unit sucking air).
c). Gently move the carriage over the service station (manually push over
with one hand); gently push down on top of carriage to ensure you have
good contact &
suction). Allow pump to engage cartridges for
at least
10-15
seconds
. Select
Exit
at menu to stop pump action. Note: this will waste ~36 ml
of ink total (6 ml per color) but completely recharges all of the cartridges and
ink lines (cartridge volume/weight will remain the same).
d). Select
UTILITY MENU - ACCESS CARTRIDGES
once again to return printer
to readiness condition.
CAUTION:
there is a known danger of performing procedure between 2 and 9
seconds as this does nothing but waste ink and may likely cause multiple
cartridge failures (signified by MAX INK TEMP errors) due to significant ink loss
and inadequate internal cartridge pressure (not enough pressure builds up inside
the cartridge to help replenish the ink loss during system priming); the pump
must be engaged between 10 and 15 seconds to be effective.
Only perform this procedure for 1-2 seconds (<2 secs) if excessive air bubbles are ever
noted in the ink lines at top-left side of carriage assembly - it will purge them
out successfully without causing a severe impact on the heads (probably not unless the
ink level in cartridge was low to begin with...i.e. <14ml; new cartridges ship with 20ml
inside).
