Case B: If there is no roof vent at the desired installation location for the air
conditioner:
If there is no roof vent, a new opening (see illustration) must be cut in the vehicle
roof. A corresponding opening must also be cut in the inner vehicle ceiling. Be
careful when cutting the inner ceiling opening if the ceiling is lined with carpet,
as the saw can get caught in the carpet. After the opening in the roof and on the
inner ceiling is the right size, a framed support structure must be placed between
the outer roof panel and the inner ceiling. The reinforced frame construction must
comply with the following dimensions:
1. The frame must be able to support the weight of both the
indoor and outdoor appliance.
2. The frame must also be able to maintain and support the roof
exterior and interior ceiling apart so that the exterior and
interior ceiling will not collapse after the components have
been installed and bolted together. The picture on the right
shows a typical support frame construction.
3. There must be an opening in the frame through which the
power cables can be routed. Place the power cables by the
time the frame is installed in the roof.
Important instructions for installation
• The outdoor component must be installed on a flat roof (front and rear
and flat from side to side). The vehicle must be parked on a flat surface
beforehand. The picture below shows the maximum acceptable angles of
inclination at which the appliance can be mounted.
• If the roof of the vehicle is slightly inclined (not level) and the outdoor
component cannot be mounted within the maximum permissible inclination,
an external levelling support must be fitted so that the appliance will stand
evenly (see the picture on the next page).
• If the outdoor component is standing level, a levelling support for the indoor
component may also be required. The outdoor component and the indoor
component must be level before they can be connected to each other.
• After the installation area is prepared, remove the cardboard box and the
sealing caps from the outdoor component. Carefully lift the appliance onto the
roof of the vehicle. Do not lift the appliance by the outer plastic cover! Place
the outdoor component on the prepared installation hole.
• The tip (nose) of the outdoor component must face the front of the vehicle.
