Engine Cooling System
A. Engine Coolant Level Check
1. Ensure vehicle is on a level surface and perform “Shut-Down Procedure” on
page 5-4.
2. Check level of engine coolant fluid in the sight tube ( 1 ) on the surge tank ( 2 ).
The coolant level should be visible.
3. If coolant is low in surge tank, allow vehicle to cool and dissipate pressure, then
remove cap ( 3 ) and using a clean funnel add coolant (50/50 mixture of ethylene
glycol and water) as required.
4. Secure surge tank cap and run engine to circulate fluid.
5. Check for leaks and add additional coolant if needed.
Note: Never mix brands of antifreeze or anti-corrosion additives, could cause the
coolant to perform poorly. If a different coolant additive has been used, be sure to
thoroughly flush the cooling system before adding engine specific coolant.
WARNING
BURN HAZARD. Turning the surge tank pressure cap when the engine and
radiator are hot can allow steam and scolding liquids to blow out and cause
severe burns. NEVER turn surge tank pressure cap when engine and radiator
are hot. Failure to comply could result in serious injury.
