CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION
With cruise control the operator can maintain a speed of about 35 mph (56 km/h) or
more without depressing accelerator pedal. This can be beneficial on long trips and
highway travel.
The set speed will be maintained within a 1.9 mph (3 km/h) above or below the set
speed when grades do not exceed 7 percent (most interstate highways). If actual
vehicle speed decreases 5 mph (8 km/h) or more below the set speed, the cruise
control will automatically disengage.
It may be necessary to assist the cruise control by depressing accelerator pedal
when pulling a heavy load, climbing a very steep hill or driving into a strong wind.
Bring the vehicle up to speed with the accelerator pedal and then let the cruise
control take over.
To set cruise at a particular speed:
1. Press the cruise control switch into the “ON” position.
2. Hold accelerator pedal down until the vehicle reaches the desired speed. The
speed must be above 35 mph (56 km/h).
3. Press and release the set/coast switch located on the dash. This will hold the
speed shown on the speedometer until cruise is canceled.
4. Wait one second after releasing set/coast switch then remove foot from
accelerator pedal.
To disengage the cruise control:
1. Depress the brake pedal, or
2. Press the cruise control switch to the “OFF” position.
WARNING
Do NOT use the cruise control system when driving conditions do not permit
maintaining a constant speed, such as heavy traffic, winding, ice, snow or
slippery roads. Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.
