Booster Pump Operating Instructions
The Booster Pumps fi ed to Kifco Water-Reels are for the sole purpose of adding pressure to an incoming water supply.
These pumps should
NEVER
be allowed to run dry. The pump seals will be damaged if the pump body is not full of water when
the pump is running.
The Booster Pump engine is supplied with fuel from an auxiliary fuel tank mounted beside the engine.
Never refuel while the
engine is running.
Star ng the Engine/Pump
Before a emp ng to start the engine check fuel and oil levels. The oil level is very important. Also check that the water flow
control valve at the sprinkler cart is in the on posi on.
Water must be running through the pump.
Start-up Procedure
1. T
urn the igni on switch to `On'
2. T
he fuel line valve below the tank and valve on the engine must be `On'
3. I
f the exis ng water supply produces water flow that is too low the
Flow Switch
will prevent the engine from s
tar ng on units
so equipped. To by-pass the Flow Switch
d
epress the bu on mounted on the engine cover beside the gauge and hold down
un l the engine has start- e
d and the flow is sufficient for the engine to run with the by-pass bu on released.
4. W
ith the booster pump running a pressure increase should be observed on the machine pressure gauge. Use t
he engine
thro le to control the water pressure. If there is no apparent increase in the water pressure, stop t
he engine and check the
water supply.
Important:
A pump inlet pressure gauge is installed to read the incoming line pressure. If this gauge shows
li le or no line pressure it is an indica on that there is something wrong with the water supply.
For example: the supply line might be insufficient or there may be a restric on in the line.
