Functional Description
There is no synchronization of the PETS timing to the received PTP packets.
See section
5.4.3.3 Transparent Clock Application
Figure 12:
PETS synchronization with PTP, Boundary Clock
The quality level (QL) is transported in the PTP packets using the Clock
Class parameter. The usage of the PTP QL is limited to the display of the
received and transmitted QL values, i.e. the PTP QL cannot be used for the
QL based clock source selection.
The status of the transmitted and received QL is available at the AP: /unit-x/
port-a, Status - PTP.
Risk of operating trouble!
With PTP only one synchronization path direction is active. This is the for-
ward path (Master to Slave).
→ The PTP quality level information in reverse direction (Slave to Mas-
ter) is not applicable.
Risk of operating trouble!
When using the “Hybrid” or “Pure Hybrid” PTP mode the QL used for the
clock selection algorithm is taken from the synchronous Ethernet port.
Please note:
The PTP can be used as external time source (AP: /ne, Configuration - Date
And Time - Time Sources) if the PTP is enabled and at least one PTP
source is selected as PETS clock source. The PTP mode must be config-
ured to “Frequency And Phase”, to “Hybrid” or to “Pure Hybrid”.
