SAFETY
2.4.2
Danger through hot surfaces
The drive motors of the pumps become hot during operation. Contact with the hot surfaces may lead to severe
burns and damage to objects. Wear suitable personal protective equipment and ensure sufficient cooling before
contact.
2.4.3
Risk due to noise
Operating the Station can be very loud*. Wear appropriate protective equipment where required and conduct
noise-reducing measures.
* Pumps <70 dB, grey cast iron backflow protection device and water flow noises max. 80dB
2.4.4
Health hazard
The Station lifts wastewater containing sewage, which may contain substances dangerous to health. Ensure that
wastewater or parts of the station that it contaminates do not come into direct contact with the eyes, mouth or
skin. In the event of direct contact, thoroughly wash the affected areas of the body and disinfect if required. The
atmosphere in the wastewater container may pose a health risk. Ensure the room is well ventilated before opening
the wastewater container (e.g. for disassembling the pump).
2.4.5
Danger of explosion
The inside of the wastewater container can be considered as a space at rick of explosion (EN 12050). Biological
decaying processes can generate flammable gasses (hydrogen sulphide, methane gas). Ensure the room and
container are well ventilated before opening the wastewater container (e.g. for disassembling the pump).
If the wastewater container is opened, ensure that no sources of ignition (e.g. operating electrical devices without
enclosed motor, metal processing, smoking, etc.) are in the immediate vicinity.
