Selecting an address
1.
Pick a network class. Although most isolated networks are class C type, any class can
be selected (see
). Use
as a guide to make sure all the required infor-
mation is available. To make sure a corporate network stays isolated (especially in a
dual NIC configuration), it is recommended to use a class C type network.

With the network class selected, select the First Byte for the class from

Make sure to not use any restricted numbers as the First Byte number.
NOTE
The first byte is the left most byte of the Network ID.

With First Byte selected, select the second through third bytes of the address. (The first
through third bytes of the IP Address make up the Network ID. This as well as the Sub-
net mask must match for each node.)
