CAUTION: Servicing should only
be performed by qualifi ed and
licensed service companies.
Always disconnect gas supplies
before attempting service.
WARNING: Griddle may be hot.
Use care when servicing.
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THERMOSTAT
The Keating thermostat controls the temperature of the
griddle within a pre-selected range for the purpose of
cooking food products.
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect electric power source.
2. Remove therm guide.
3. Remove thermostat knob by carefully pulling it
straight out from control panel.
4. Remove dial plate by removing three screws and
pulling it from control panel.
5. Remove control panel by removing four screws
and support the panel to prevent damage to wiring or
other components.
6. Remove two screws which hold thermostat body to
control panel.
7. Detach wires from thermostat body, carefully not-
ing connections.
8. Remove thermostat bulb and shield from under
griddle plate by loosening both bolts holding them in
place and sliding them toward you. See Figure 8.
REPLACEMENT:
1. Make sure that the thermostat capillary and bulb
are completely protected by the shield, except for 1”
(not including the swedge) at the end of the thermo-
stat bulb. (See Note 1).
2. Make sure that the thermostat shield extends
to the front edge of the plate, and that the capillary
goes through the formed end of the shield. (Note 2).
3. Make sure that the bolts which hold the thermo-
stat bulb and shield in place do not touch the thermo-
stat bulb. (See Note 3).
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE BOLTS ON THE
THERMOSTAT SHIELD OR THEY WILL CRUSH THE
THERMOSTAT BULB.
4. Make sure that on the thermostat the insulation
has been moved up the capillary and starts at the
beginning of the thermostat bulb. (See Note 4).
