1 Installation
The device is supplied with installed software.

NOTE:
If the device is on an instrument cart, this should only ever be switched on/off via the AIDA ON/
OFF switch. The central switch on the instrument cart is only suitable for the remaining components
such as printers, screens etc.

1. 3. 1 KARL STORZ AIDA ® Secure
As standard, the system is delivered ex works with KARL STORZ AIDA ® Secure (neXus SE46).
This security software prevents dangerous or undesirable software from running on your system. It
functions based on the white list principle. This means that only approved (certified) software can be
run on the system.

NOTE: KARL STORZ recommends combination with an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) in order to
guarantee maximum protection of your network.

NOTE: We recommend that either you or your IT department create a new user account with
administrator rights and deactivate the standard administrator account. If you do so, you must not
forget the password.
Installing and approving new software and hardware components
New software and hardware components can be installed and approved as follows:
1. Ensure that the new system components come from a reliable and trustworthy source, are free
from malware, and can be installed on KARL STORZ AIDA ® WD300 or WD350 without any
problems.
Scan the new software and the data carrier (USB stick) with an up-to-date anti-virus program.

NOTE:
Only use data carriers you have checked in advance throughout the entire process.
2. Disconnect all unnecessary data carriers from the system (e.g., USB hard drives).
3. Disconnect the system from the network.

If it is not possible to disconnect the system from the network or you do not wish to do so, you
must ensure that your network is free from viruses and other malware.
4. Log on using an account with administrator rights.
5. Click on
Start\Programs\neXus\SE46\Local Whitelist Manager and start the Local
Certification of Software . The following window appears:
