5. 4 Repair program
5. 4. 1 Return of defective devices to KARL STORZ
In case you need to return a device to KARL STORZ for repair, we request that you make
a backup copy of all the patient and personal data stored on the hard disk and then
delete the data from the hard disk prior to returning the device (see software description
96296016, chap. 3.3 and 3.4).

5. 5 Limitation of liability
KARL STORZ shall be liable for the safe operation, operational reliability, and performance
of this system only subject to the following conditions:
• all assembly operations, system expansions, readjustments, modifications or repairs
have been performed by a person or persons duly authorized by KARL STORZ;
• all electrical installations in the room in which the system is installed and operated meet
the applicable laws and standards, and
• the devices have been used in accordance with their instruction manuals at all times.
5. 6 Warranty
For a period of two years after delivery to the end user, we shall replace free of charge
equipment that can be proven to have defects in material or workmanship. In so doing
we cannot bear the cost of transportation or the risk associated with shipment. The
warranty referred to in our Standard Conditions of Business shall additionally apply.
Opening the equipment or performance of any repairs or modifications to the
components of the device by unauthorized persons shall relieve us of any liability for its
performance. Any such opening, repair, or modification performed during the warranty
period shall void all warranty.
