In case of flowmeter installation with additional “R“ function on re-
verse flows inlet and outlet pipes lengths should be the same and
equal to inlet pipe length for the case of forward flow.
In accordance with flowmeter dimension type SAE should be assem-
bled for flowmeter installation.
SAE description is given in 2.3.4.3 clause of the present manual.
2.3.2. Preparation for installation
Flowmeters are transported to the installation site in factory package.
After flowmeter transportation in conditions of negative temperature
to the installation site with positive temperature it is necessary to keep
it in package for not less than 8 hours.
After device unpacking it is necessary to keep it in normal conditions
for not less than 24 hours.
After device unpacking it is necessary to conduct its external ins-
pection considering the following:
n
the absence of visual mechanical damages;
n
device completeness in accordance with certificate instructions;
n
the presence of verification and QCD mark of the manufacturer in
flowmeter certificate.
Before flowmeter installation an engineering system pipeline should
be washed and cleaned form rust, debris, dross, foreign objects.
2.3.3. Instructions for flowmeter installation
All mounting, commissioning, maintenance and repair works should
be performed by specialized organizations with required access to
the present type of works. Inlet and outlet pipes with diameter bigger
or smaller than flowmeter diameter should be cut in the pipeline only
by means of concentric reducers (confusor/diffuser or diffuser/con-
fusor) in accordance with GOST 17378 (“Seamless welded steel pipe-

line components for Pn 10 MPa (£ 100 kgf/cm ) Reducers. Design
and dimensions”). £
Reducers are mounted on the pipeline beyond straight pipes area.
In order to eliminate measured fluid leakage at the working pressure
the flowmeter joint to the pipeline should be tight and aligned.
It is recommended to install a flowmeter on prepared measuring pipe sec-
tion: control valves should be installed before inlet and after outlet pipes.
During flowmeter operation control valves should be wide opened.
Direction of arrow on the FT body should correspond to flow direction
of working fluid in the pipeline.
Electric circuits should be connected to a flowmeter only after mount-
ing works completion and disconnected before installation works
starting.
When choosing place for flowmeter installation it is required to pro-
vide the following:
n
free access to the flowmeter ;
n
place of flowmeter installation should guarantee its proper operation
without mechanic damages and water penetration on the EM body;
n
straight pipes lengths should be not less than values specified in
table 2.1;
n
it is not allowed to install flowmeters in watersealed premises.
