A pair or rotors with intermeshing lobes turn in opposite directions within a casing. The rotors are
synchronized by timing gears on one end. Air in the block inlet is trapped between the rotor lobes
and the casing and moved round to the discharge port.
As there is no contact between the rotors themselves and the casing, oil film lubrication is not re‐
quired.
4.3 Safety relief valve
The safety relief valve (blow-off valve) protects the system from excessive pressure. It is factory
set.
