USING YOUR KAMADO FOR THE FIRST TIME
• To start a fire, place rolled-up newspaper with a few lighting cubes or solid fire starters on the charcoal
plate (7) at the base of the Kamado. Then place 2 or 3 handfuls of lump charcoal on the newspaper.
• DO NOT use gasoline, White Spirit (heavy naphtha), lighter fluid, alcohol, or similar chemicals for lighting or
relighting.
• Open the bottom vent and light the newspaper with a long-bill lighter or safety matches.
• DO NOT over-fuel the unit. Too much fire could damage the Kamado.
• Allow the oven to heat up until all the fuel is used and extinguished.
• If the first flames are too intense, they could damage the felt gasket seal before it has had time to warm up
properly.
• After the first use, check that all fasteners are tight. The metal band that connects the lid to the base expands
in the heat and may loosen. It is recommended to check and, if necessary, tighten the band with a wrench.
• Now you can use your Kamado.
EXTINGUISH
• To extinguish the appliance, stop adding fuel and close all vents and the lid to allow the fire to burn out
naturally.
• DO NOT use water to extinguish embers. You may damage the ceramic Kamado.
