ABOUT YOUR KAMADO
“Kamado” is a Japanese term used for “stove” or “cooking range.” Their discovery goes back to 4,000 years ago
when archaeologists discovered large clay vessels believed to be early incarnations of the Kamado ceramic cooker
in Japan. The “Mushikamado” round clay pot had a removable domed lid designed to steam rice. The Kamado
was adopted by Americans and has since become a generic term for this style of ceramic stove. The basic ceramic
cooker has evolved in several ways: a removable lid, an added draft door for better heat control, and wood as the
primary fuel for replacing coal.
Kamado cookers are incredibly versatile. Not only can they be used for grilling or smoking, but they can also help
you bake pizzas, bread, pies, and cookies effortlessly. Ceramic cookers have excellent heat retention properties.
They can reach and maintain high temperatures by controlling the airflow through top and bottom vents. High
temperatures are ideal for quick burgers and sausages, while low temperatures allow large pieces to be cooked
over a longer period. You can even add wood chips to the charcoal or try combining wood chips of different
flavours to make your meats even more flavourful.
