COMPATIBILITY

The tripod shall only be used within a fall arrest system conforming to EN363 in combination with a guided-type fall ar-

rester on a flexible anchor line conforming to EN353-2 or lanyard with energy absorber conforming to EN354 and EN355,

or a retractable type fall arrester conforming to EN360.

LIFETIME

The maximum life span of the product is 10 years from the date of manufacture. The life span greatly depends upon the

conditions of usage of the product. Products must be inspected at least once a year by a trained and competent person.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT

The Personal Protective Equipment must be transported in a package that protects against moisture, mechanical,

chemical and thermal attack. Store in a cool dry place. Avoid humid & acidic environment for storage. Never place heavy

items on top of it.

MAINTENANCE

In case of minor soiling, wipe the Tripod with cotton cloth or a soft brush. Do not use any abrasive material. For intensive

cleaning wash in water at a temperature between 30°C to 60°C by using a neutral detergent pH7. The washing

temperature should not exceed 60°C. Do not use acidic or basic detergents.

INSPECTION

PRE-USE CHECK

Visually inspect the system before each use to ensure that it is in a serviceable condition and is operating correctly. If

during inspection, doubts are raised about the safety of the system or a component, these should be replaced either by

the manufacturer or a competent person.

DETAILED RECORDED INSPECTION

Detailed recorded inspections should:

•  Be carried out by a trained competent person to ensure the safety and integrity of the product.
•  Recorded in the record table contained within these User Instructions.
•  Be carried out on a regular basis. The frequency of the detailed recorded inspection should:

• Be deemed through risk assessment taking into account legislation, equipment type, frequency of use, and

environmental conditions, which may accelerate the rate of deterioration and physical damage
• Be carried out at least every 12 months regardless of usage.

If any damage of failure are observed, the product should be removed from service and replaced/repaired immediately.

Repair is permitted, provided that it is either done by the manufacturer or a competent repair centre or individual

approved by the manufacturer.If the product has been used to arrest a fall, it should be removed from service and

returned to the manufacturer or a competent repair centre for servicing and re-testing.It is recommended the anchor

device is marked with the date of the next or last inspection.

INSPECTION CARD

This user manual and operating instructions are part of the safety system and all users should be totally familiar with its

contents. It should be kept in a safe place and be freely available to users at all times. When this product is removed

from its packaging the table on the opposite page should be completed taking the information from the product label. The

table below should be used to record all Detailed Recorded Inspections at a frequency deemed through risk assessment

but at least every 12 months.

APPLICATION AND LIMITATIONS

APPLICATION

The TRIPOD is designed to support one person to be raised and lowered through an opening such as a manhole. While

a Self-Retractable Lifeline can be used, fall arrest is not its primary function.

Please ensure that this information is only used to check that the product selected is suitable for the intended use.

The height of the Tripod is adjustable from 1.15 m to 2.15 m depending on the conditions of usage.

Open the 3 legs of the Tripod outwards so that they lie outside the periphery of the confined space into which entry is

required.

Adjust the height upwards or downwards by adjustments provided on the 3 telescopic legs. It is recommended that all

the legs should adjusted the same size and on a flat surface.

Once the required height is reached, ensure that the adjustment points are properly locked.

. Adjust the strap at the base of the legs to be taut.

. Use the eyebolts provided as anchorage points to attach to the required personal protective equipment e.g. fall

arrestors etc. using connectors or other attachment devices.

NB: the retrieval block should be mounted on the leg to the right of the winch.
The material of the webbing at the feet of the Tripod is Polyester.

LIMITATIONS

•  Do not use if you have any medical conditions which could affect your safety in both normal and emergency use.
•  The equipment shall only be used by a person trained and competent in its safe use.
•  A rescue plan shall be in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise during work.
•  Do not make any alterations or additions to the equipment without the manufacturer’s prior written consent.
•  The equipment should not be used outside its limitation, or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
•  Ensure the compatibility of items of equipment when assembled into a system.
•  It is important to check before use for any dangers that may arise by the use of combinations of equipment in which the

safe function of any one item is affected by or interferes with the safe function of another.
• Carry out a pre-use check of the product, to ensure that it is in a serviceable condition & operates correctly before it is

used.
• Withdraw from use any equipment where there is any doubt about its condition for safe use or if it has been used to

arrest a fall. Do not use again until it is confirmed by a competent person.

• When intended to be used in fall arrest systems, it is essential for safety to verify the free space required beneath the

user at the workplace before each use, so that in case of a fall there will be no collision with the ground or other

obstacle in the fall path.
• This TRIPOD when used as a component of a fall arrest system ensure a fall is arrested safely by reducing impact

forces to 6 kN or less.
• Be aware of hazards that may affect the performance or cause failure of the equipment, such as::

• extreme temperatures (below -15°C and above +50°C)
•

aggressive environmental conditions including sand & grit, cement, hot surfaces, naked flames, welding splatter,

sparks, electrical conductivity

• contact with: sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, chemicals

• Immediately stop using the product if it is exposed to any of the above or is damaged in any way until it has been

inspected by a competent person.
• That the anchor device should only be used for personal fall protection equipment and not for lifting equipment.
