Measurement of maximum turn with the turn angle
scales AM135.
Hang the frame gauges, gauge extensions and
measuring scales.
Jack up the front axle.
Attach the wheel adapter and laser projector.
Compensate for run-out of the wheel with the
adjustment knobs on the adapter.
Place the turn angle gauges AM135 on the floor for
both the left and right sides, with a centered scale
and in the middle of the wheels.
Put the left wheel on left-steered or the right wheel
on right-steered vehicles in a straight ahead posi-
tion with the laser projector. Equal values on the
front and rear measuring scales.
Position the turn angle gauges on both sides with
the laser dot on the 0-line of the measuring scale.
Turn the wheel out as far as possible.
Aim the laser dot on the 0-line of the measuring
scale. Slide the scale until the laser dot hits the
intersection point on the 0-line.
Aim the laser dot on the outer (degrees) scale and
read the value.
Write down the value on the Test Report Sheet.
Compare the measurement results with each other
and with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Example: Left side
40
°
Right side 37
°
If the maximum turn is too great, it must be
corrected.
Caution must be taken that the steering linkage
angle doesn't become 180
°
causing the steering to
lock!
