Measurement of caster
Use the wheel alignment gauge AM300/301 and
turn angle gauge AM135.
Hang the frame gauges, gauge extensions and
measuring scales. Jack up the axle so that the
wheel rolls freely, approx. 10 mm above the floor.
Attach the wheel adapter and laser projector.
Compensate the run-out of the wheel with the
adjustment knobs on the wheel adapter.
Lay the turn angle gauges AM135 on the floor for
both the left and right sides, with a centered scale
and in the middle of the wheels.
Put the left wheel on left-steered or the right wheel
on right-steered vehicles in a straight ahead posi-
tion with the laser projector. Equal values on the
front and rear measuring scales.
Align the turn angle gauges on both sides with the
laser dot on the 0-line of the measuring scale.
Move the measuring scale along the profile and
check at both ends that the laser dot hits the 0-line.
While measuring the caster with the help of the
turn angle gauges AM135, the caster value will be
insignificantly changed when the axle is lifted with
the wheel approx. 10 mm above the floor.
NOTE!
Bogie wheels should stay on the floor.
