Unpacking
Carefully unpack the machine and inspect for
damage. Any damage should be reported
immediately to your distributor and shipping
agent. Do not discard the carton or packing
material until the machine is set up and running
satisfactorily.
Cleaning
Remove the protective coating and loose items
packed with the machine. This coating may be
removed with a soft cloth moistened with
kerosene. Do not use acetone, gasoline or
lacquer thinner for this purpose. Do not use
solvents on plastic parts. Lightly oil all machined
surfaces.
Before proceeding further, read your manual
thoroughly to familiarize yourself with proper
assembly, maintenance and safety procedures.

Assembly
Referring to Figure 1:
The
Lifting Handwheel
(14),
Longitudinal Feed
Handwheel
(12),
Cross Feed Handwheel
(11),
and
Fine Feeding Handwheel
(8) must be
assembled prior to using the Hobby Mill.
Insert one handwheel each onto the end of the
Worm Shaft
(Assembly Drawing part #61), the
Lifting Screw
(part #95), and the two
Horizontal
Screws
(part #141). Then firmly secure each
handwheel, using one
Washer
(part #67), and
one Lock Nut (part #68).
Mounting the Machine
1. Place the Hobby Mill/Drill in the desired
location on the top of the workbench.
2. Trace mounting holes on the workbench
surface using the four mounting holes in the
Base as a template.
3. Temporarily remove the Hobby Mill/Drill
Machine from the workbench.
4. Drill 1/4" diameter mounting holes through
the top of the workbench.
5. Replace the Hobby Mill/Drill and secure with
four each 1/4" diameter bolts, lock washers
and hex nuts (not provided).
