10 Troubleshooting
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
When raising the throttle
trim of the radio, the
“Trim
Up
” message does not
appear
ECU in stop mode after running.
Incorrect adjustment of radio
transmitter.
ECU Battery supply failure.
Power cycle the Receiver by
switching off and then on.
Program the parameters of the
radio.
Verify battery voltage, check
connectors.
After cycling the throttle
stick (initiate start
sequence)
“Igniter Bad”
message appears
Igniter or driver circuit bad. Check wiring and battery
connections.
After cycling the throttle
stick the starter motor does
not spin and later the
“Starter Motor Error”
message appears. Brushless starter motor may be bad
or the brushless motor drive circuit
may be bad.
ECU Battery Voltage low
Check starter.
Charge ECU Battery
Check starter clutch o-ring
After cycling the throttle
stick the starter motor turns
but the
“Error RPM Sensor”
message appears.
Starter battery power to low.
Turbine hard to spin
RPM sensor failure.
Check ECU battery.
Check that the starter runs freely,
look for ny interference that may
cause a rub on one of the rotating
components,.
Check RPM sensor reading.
The Starter RPM cycles but
the kerosene doesn’t ignite,
“Ignition Error” message is
displayed, then the status
message “Manual Cooling”
is displayed followed by a
“Stop Error”. Kero start tubing not purged of air
Not enough fuel being supplied to
burner
Purge tubing using “Prime Burner”
function.
“Initial Pump Pw” parameter will
need to be adjusted to a higher
value.
This will require a power cycle of
the ECU.
HDT does not light up
when Rx is power on ECU Battery not connected
Serial Cable plug in backwards
Low battery voltage
Connect ECU Battery
Verify serial cable polarity
Charge batteries
HDT stays at “Initializing”
No communications between turbine
and POWERPACK Check S-Bus wires and
connections
Test and prime functions
do not work Trim Down status condition not
properly set Check or perform the transmitter
setup, check you have the trim low
on the transmitter and a “Trim
Down” message at the main screen
