To start HotSync on your handheld computer:
1.
Tap
HotSync
icon.
2.
Tap
modem
(not local) in Hotsync menu bar.
3.
Tap
preferences
button and
modem sync
preference.
4.
Select
network > OK
.
5.
Tap
Hotsync menu bar
again and
LANSync
prefs.
6.
Select
LANSync > OK
.
7.
Tap
Hotsync menu bar
again and
primary PC
setup.
•
In primary PC name, input !! (two exclamation points). Graffiti is a downstroke, then tap a period.
•
This enables the two computers to sync together.
•
Input
TCP/IP address
for your computer in
primary PC address
.
•
Leave
subnet blank
.

On Hotsync screen, select
modem
.
9.
Tap
select service
.
•
Preferences screen pops up with Service: WLAN (the only selection).
10.
Tap details.
•
Select a network will come up and scan for available networks.
11.
Choose the same network name your PC is connected to.
12.
If the network is open, tap
connect > go to step 19
.
•
If secure, tap
edit > configure
.
13.
Choose
security personal
.
14.
Choose
WPA-PSK or WEP
.
15.
Enter
key or pass-phrase
, depending on the security methodology you use.
16.
Tap
OK.
•
Dialog box pops up: “Would you like to connect to [NETWORK ESSID NAME] now?”
17.
Tap
yes
.
•
WLAN initializes and connects.
•
Preferences screen reappears.

Tap
home key

Choose
Hotsync
.
•
Modem
should be highlighted

Tap
select service
again.
•
Service: WLAN comes up

Tap
done

Tap
Hotsync icon
in center of screen.
•
First HOTSYNC only:

XP will associate.

Hotsync will start on PC.

Choose
name of XP20
or assign a new one.

Hotsync finishes.
Use file link
The file link feature lets you import address book and memo pad information into your handheld computer
from a separate external file such as a company phone list. You can set the file link feature to check for
changes to the external file when you perform a HotSync operation. With file link, you can import data
stored in any of the following file formats:
•
Comma delimited (.csv).
•
Tab delimited (.tsv).
•
Memo pad archive (.mpa).
•
Address book archive (.aba).
•
Text (.txt).
