Section 2, Mounting the POLAR™ HD Heating Module
2-2 POLAR™ HD Heating Module
Make sure you are familiar with Section 1 – Overview of this
Manual. If the system is not installed according to specifications
and with the correct equipment, your POLAR™HD Heating Module
may not operate properly, safety may be compromised, and your
Warranty may be voided.
2.2 Identifying Your POLAR
™
HD Heating
Module Model
As the owner, you must be fully aware of the controls and
operating features particular to your model of the POLAR™HD
Heating Module. This is essential for the proper functioning and
life of your POLAR™HD Heating Module as well as protecting your
warranty. Your model can be identified by locating the serial
number label on the outside case of the POLAR™HD Heating
Module. The serial number identifies the model type through the
first series of letters and numbers.
The types of POLAR™ HD Heating Module models are:
8 gallon model CH50M – POLAR™ HD Heating Module
(powder coated case)
16 gallon model CH50V - POLAR™ HD Heating Module
(powder coated case)
2.3 Your Mounting Location
Your mounting location should consider the following:
• Mounting location must be able to support double the gross
weight of the POLAR™ HD Heating Module (i.e. 160 lbs. x 2 =
320lbs./73 KG x 2 = 146 KG) and must be of a non-
combustible and non absorptive surface. (Add 60 lbs to gross
weight for 16 gallon model)
• POLAR™ HD Heating Modules are 14”H x 14”W x 30” D. (35.6
cm x 35.6 cm x 76.1 cm), 8 gallon model, 16”H x 16”W x 36”D
(40.6cm x 40.6 cm x 91.4 cm) 16 gallon model, see Figure 2-1:
Module Dimensions.
• POLAR™HD Heating Modules must be installed in a
compartment which is completely isolated from the atmosphere
of living spaces.
• Combustion air must be drawn from an outside source and
cannot contain any combustible gases.
