Tube Mode
IF THE LEVEL OF BENZENE THROUGH THE PRE-FILTER TUBE EXCEEDS 200 PPM
THE ACCURACY OF THE READING SHOULD BE APPROACHED WITH CAUTION.
READINGS ABOVE 200 PPM ARE STILL DISPLAYED, HOWEVER, THE DISPLAY WILL
FLASH “>200” IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER OF THE SCREEN.
Important
: Benzene Pre-filter Tubes should be used for a single reading and one
STEL test only. ION Science recommends that a new tube is used with each tube
measurement for best accuracy and performance.
The TIGER Select should not be stored with tubes connected.
Additional Notes
: When using the TIGER Select to measure higher concentrations
of benzene, the concentrations of other hydrocarbons may also be high, and the
Benzene Pre-filter Tube capacity should be considered:
•
As the pre-filter capacity reaches its limit, the tube will change colour
from bright orange to a green/brown.
•
If the colour changes beyond the ¾ marking, the benzene concentration
may not be accurate.
•
If the colour changes past the ¾ marking (see
A
below), as long as the
benzene reading is below the test limit (e.g. 200 ppm), the result is still
within the environmental compliance.
The working temperature range of the Benzene Pre-filter Tube is between 2°C to
40°C (36°F to 104°F).
Important
: A
must be carried out before Tube mode can be used.
The following icon will appear until a calibration is carried out:

Preparing the Benzene Pre-filter Tube
Use the Tube Opener supplied with the instrument:
Remove both ends of the Benzene Pre-filter Tube using the Tube Opener. This is done by inserting
the tube into the Tube Opener and twisting the tube. A slight angle may be required to cut the glass.
Using the Tube Opener tool will enable you to easily break the ends off of the Benzene Pre-filter
Tubes without leaving jagged edges or bits of broken glass.
