Intermec EasyCoder 201 II – Technical Manual
ELECTRONICS, cont'd.
Continued!
The EasyCoder 201 II printers are usually fitted with four EPROM's
(Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory). Since the EPROM's
do not require any current to retain their content and cannot be
erased within the printer, they are used to store programs and files,
which are necessary for running the printer. The EPROM's must
always be fitted in couples (IC-1 & IC-2 or IC-3 & IC-4). Each
couple must be CMOS-type of the same size and have a maximum
access time of 120 nS. Optionally, the EPROM:s can be substituted
by Flash Memory packages (4 Mbit each). However, this feature is
reserved for special applications and requires special software and
changing the strap on P-24, see below.
IC-1 & IC-2
These two EPROM's are alike for all EasyCoder 201 II printers and
always contain:
• The Intermec Fingerprint firmwareware.
• The default setup (see the chapter “Setup Parameters”).
• Standard bar code generators

.
• UPC/EAN bar code interpretation fonts.
• Standard fonts
SW030RSN.1
and
SW030RSN.

• Setup options for direct thermal paper, see the chapter “Thermal
Paper”.
• Utility programs
MKAUTO.PRG
and
FILELIST.PRG
.

IC-3 & IC-4
These two Configuration EPROM's give the printer its special
characteristics and may either contain a standard set of files for the
printer model in question, or a special set of files and application
programs composed according to the customer's requirements.
P-22
A jumper must be fitted on P-22 to specify the size of the EPROM's
or Flash Memory packages fitted on IC-3 and IC-4:
Pin 1–2 (upper position):
27C040 (4 Mbit = 512 kbyte), or
27C020 (2 Mbit = 256 kbyte), or
27C010 (1 Mbit = 128 kbyte)

, or
4 Mbit Flash Memory
Pin 2–3 (lower position):
27C512 (0.5 Mbit = 64 kbyte)
27C010 (1 Mbit = 128 kbyte)

/. 27C010 EPROM's will work with strap
in either upper or lower position.
