The paper roll may be wound with the labels or thermal coating
facing either outwards or inwards.
An exception is thin, flexible, non-dispensing media, like baggage
tags, where paper rolls with the thermal layer facing inwards are
strongly recommended.

Note:
This is the recommended maximum
thickness. Thicker web may be used at
the possible expense of an impaired
printout quality. However, the stiffness
is also important. A stiff web limits the
maximum thickness and vice versa.
