Cooling Fans
The system has two 92-mm 12 V DC cooling fans that are controlled by circuitry on the system
board. The front fan is mounted in a housing at the bottom front of the base unit chassis. The rear
fan is mounted to the upper back of the base unit chassis under the system’s power supply. Both
fans bring cool air into the base unit to force out warm air.
The chassis fans are field replaceable. See Chapter 9, “Servicing System Components,” for details
on replacing the chassis fans.
CAUTION
To maintain proper airflow to cool system components, make sure you install a new
fan with the airflow arrow pointing into the chassis.
The power supply contains its own cooling fan. The power supply fan is not field replaceable. If
the power supply fan requires replacement, you must replace the power supply. See Chapter 9,
“Servicing System Components,” for details on replacing the power supply.
