Always remember to click the WRITE button to send software
entries to the 730 Encoder.
These examples detail RT+ formatting for typical current uses.
It is not within the scope of this manual to go into greater de-
tail, but the curious reader is invited to download and study the
complete RT+ Specification, which may be found here:

THE DEFAULT RADIO TEXT MESSAGE
As described in-brief on Page 48, the 730 Encoder provides
means to send a default Radio Text message when, during dy-
namic RT and RT+ operation, the incoming Radio Text message
string is lost for a specified period of time.
The default message is entered in the
RTDefault
= area, and may
be tagged using the software utility described earlier.
If this has never been done, the factory default message will be
‘grayed-out’ in the entry area. To enter data, it is first neces-
sary to specify a timeout duration. This is the number of mi-
nutes that dynamic Radio Text can ‘go missing’ before the de-
fault message is substituted. In the
RTTimer
field, enter a num-
ber. Next clear the factory-default message and type-in your
own. We’ll use the same example presented earlier.
A
WRITE
command will upload this message to encoder memo-
ry. If dynamic Radio Text (or RT+) messaging is lost (not re-
freshed) for five minutes, the default message will be sent in
the Radio Text field.
We can ‘tag’ this default message as well, providing links to the
station’s telephone number and Web address.
Select the
Tag Type:
from the pull-down list. Next highlight the
appropriate text in the
RTDefault=
field and click:
Use Selected
Text.
This has been done for both tags in the example below.
After programming this field, click:
OK
to close this screen and
then initiate a
WRITE
command.
