INMARSAT B-HSD SERVICE
Using INMARSAT B equipment, HSD High Speed Data Service provides a 64Kbps circuit connection between an
INMARSAT station and shore-side facilities or between INMARSAT stations. That is approximately 6 times the data
transmission speed of conventional B-type equipment. This high-speed data communications service makes possible a broad
range of multimedia applications including on-line viewing of the latest articles with a newspaper home page, sending and
receiving images taken with a digital camera, ship-shore videoconferencing and remote medical assistance.
What is B-HSD Service?
● Onboard installation of INMARSAT B-HSD equipment is necessary.
If your ship already has a standard INMARSAT B facility, it may be necessary to upgrade your existing equipment by
adding a circuit board, etc. For more information, please contact the manufacturer of your facility.

For shore-side facilities, an ISDN Subscriber Line is necessary.
