5.0 Physical Format
Media defects are remapped to the next available sector during Format Process in manufacturing. The
mapping from LBA to the physical locations is calculated by an internal maintained table.
5.1 Shipped Format (PList)
Data areas are optimally used.
N o extra sector is wasted as a spare throughout user data areas.
All pushes generated by defects are absorbed by spare tracks of inner zone.

Defects are skipped without any constraint, such as track or cylinder boundary. The calculation from LBA to physical
is done automatically by internal table.
5.2 Reassigned Format (GList)
Total 1750 spare sectors are available at shipment. A cylinder for spare sectors is prepared in every 256
cylinders.
Note: There is possibility to have G-List entry during the first 4 or 6 surface scan. It is mainly caused by
handling problem, and G-List entry is normal maintenance work of Hard Disk Drive.

