Chapter 2. Removal and Replacement Procedures
This chapter provides the following information on removal and replacement
procedures:

Preparatory information that applies to all the removal and replacement
procedures (see “Before You Start”).
¹
Descriptions of the individual part removal and replacement procedures (see
“Part Exchange Directory” on page 2-2).
For an overall perspective on the parts and their positioning relative to each other
and the chassis, see Appendix A, “Parts Listing” on page A-1.
Note: Most of the removal and replacement procedures show diagrams of Models
40H and 40F. Unless otherwise noted, the procedures apply for all models
of the IBM 2212.
Before You Start
Before you begin any removal or replacement activity, review the list of equipment
you will need, read the common safety precautions and then proceed.
Important
Defer any service that requires testing of the power cable or a power outlet to a
qualified service technician or electrician.
Equipment You Need
You need the following equipment to remove and replace features in the IBM 2212:

4-mm nut driver

4-mm right-angle socket wrench or open-ended wrench
¹
Flat-blade screwdriver
¹
Phillips screwdriver
¹
Screw starter (optional)
